Capitation Fees – Is it a news?

Last few days, all the media reports on some capitation fee issue. Thanks for crying out loud, but, is collecting capitation fees in education institute a news any more?

My friend got admission to Lower Kinder Garden [LKG] for his 3.5 years old daughter by paying Rs.35,000/- [Rupees Thirty Five Thousand only] as the capitation fees. So, doing the math, 20 – 40 lakhs for a medical course [the profession which is considered to be next only to the creator himself] is nothing, what do you say?

If these media people are worried about the value of the education system, they should also address the practice that begins at the kinder gardens, primary, high, higher secondary schools level.

Any problem should be addressed at the root level and not when it is getting out of hands. I don’t understand if all this drama is staged because someone close to the media could not afford to pay 20 – 40 lakhs for securing a medical seat. If it was offered at 20 – 40 thousand per seat, will this be an issue in the first place?

Is this huge cry because the media is trying

  • to eradicate the capitation fee practice in the educational institute

or

  • to reduce the amount collected as capitation fees

or

  • to settle their score with some specific individual?

And, Is this the first time a Supreme Court order was not followed in the Indian history?
