Living VS Working

Work-Life balance is an interesting topic. With the active mix of social media, it becomes more and more common topic to discuss about work-life balance or the lack of it.

Recently I received an interesting message from my friend. This is a forwarded whatsapp message and the real credit goes to the user / creator of this message. I liked it and hence publishing it as part of my blog.

"What do you do for living?"
"I read, travel, play music"
"My question was to know how you earn your daily bread?"
"Oh. I work but that is not LIVING"

True.

In my opinion, the line that is drawn between work and life is unique like an individual's signature. Everyone's priority could be different. Both working and living is important, within the bounds. As long as they are Mutually Exclusive and Collectively Exhaustive, I believe there is no reason to complain or feel elated about it.

What do you say?

Cheers,
Bright

My Kid's Lesson - Ant Man VS. Hulk

I was watching the latest Coca Cola advertisement in TV. The ad goes like this. The Ant Man [one of the Avenger] will be looking for a Coca Cola in Bruce's [Hulk, another Avenger] office. There will be a last can and when he grabs it, Bruce will enter the office. Ant Man will steal the coke can and run away. Bruce will become Hulk and chase the Ant Man. Finally, Hulk will get hold of Ant Man and grab the Coke. He will struggle to open the can and Ant Man will help him. In the process, Ant Man will get a drop of Coke and will be satisfied. Hulk will have the entire can of coke but will still be furious.

After this advertisement, my 1 grade son told me the following.
1. Ant Man should not have taken the Coke can without Bruce's permission.
2. Ant Man was happy and satisfied with just a drop of coke. Hulk, on the other hand, is not happy even after drinking completely. I will definitely not be like Hulk.

I was surprised the way he interpreted an ordinary advertisement and found a moral.

Cheers,

March 5, 2016 - Special Day

Today is a special day - My birthday. I am completing 39 years and stepping into the 40th year. It is a general statement that life starts at 40. I am entering into the phase to realize and live this statement.

Life started when I was identified as my parents' son. Then i became my teachers' student. Then I became my friends' friend, my office workers' colleague. In another important phase of life, I became a girl's husband and turned my children's father. In all these different stages, there must be some intrinsic part or identity that was growing to be proven as my SELF identity. Probably, this self avatar matures at 40 and is ready to establish a SELF IDENTITY.

WHO AM I?

I AM ...
- a son
- a cousin
- a student
- a friend
- a colleague
- a husband
- a father

But, who AM I really? What is my true identity and real worth?

If life is a game, the game is life. And it starts at 40.

So long,
Bright
